How to Download SVG Files from Etsy and Load into Cricut Design Space

One of the most exciting things in my life was when Cricut released the Explore model. Yes, I realize that sounds ridiculous. Don’t worry, I’ve had bigger milestones too, but guys, getting special die-cuts at a printer is EXPENSIVE! When I was working as a full-time designer, it was rare that I had a client with a budget big enough to pay for custom dies but with this new model I could cut ANYTHING from home! It was a big deal. After a little while of playing, I wanted to share my files and realized that I could through Etsy. Some customers have found that downloading and loading into Cricut could be a little intimidating so I wanted to write a post to walk you through it!

So first, get on Etsy and search through the thousands of SVG files. Once you find what you’re looking for, purchase it as you normally would any other item. Then go to Purchases and Reviews (shown above).

Once on that page, you’ll see your purchase and a black Download Files button. Side note, I can’t purchase my own files, but this is a digital file that I recently purchased. NorthPrints is a great shop if you’re looking for printable art for your home! Okay, back to SVG files. Click that button to download and be sure to choose a location on your computer that will be easy to remember. Once downloaded, open Cricut Design Space.

Click the Upload button on the left side. Then click the Browse button in the middle.

This is where you need to remember where you saved your files on your computer. Mine always default to my Downloads folder as shown. Select your file and click Open.

Your upload will now be in your Recent Uploads at the bottom. Select it and then Add to Canvas and then cut as normal. Super easy – hooray!
